Quilt for Bastrop by Brownie Troop

Brownie Troop 7612 started a beautiful quilt for one family of the Bastrop Fires.  They choose to cut out squares of green, “because green is the symbolic color of new beginnings,” says Abby, one of the troop members.

The girls individually chose fabric patterns that they like (only green!), and then got together to cut them all out.

They had to practice measuring precisely.

Thank you for your hard work and generosity girls! After I picked up the squares, I delivered them to a helper who is going to sew them into a quilt-top.  After that, we’ll be looking for a quilter to quilt the top to the backing and quilt lining.

The Start of a Quilt

We just got word that a Girl Scout Troop from Houston is cutting out squares of fabric for a quilt to donate to Blankets for Bastrop.   I didn’t even know they still did a sewing badge.  Who knew?  Any other troops out there looking for a project or work for a badge?

Pictures and story to come soon.
